Don't Try This At Home
If you are new to "natural healing," please, please don't whip up your own herbal hemorrhoid concoction from raw plants.
The processing of some herbal ingredients used for hemorrhoid treatment is best left to the manufacturer. The reason many herbal hemorrhoid products work so well is because the active constituent chemical must be extracted from the herb before mixing to make a medicine. The toxic chemicals in the plant must be processed out, also. Use of the whole raw plant can be poisonous either internally or externally.
Some herbs you should never attempt to use in the wild are:
Comfrey
Horse Chestnut
Goldenseal
In an ideal world, everyone would do an allergy patch test for all topical hemorrhoid products, since they are going on one of the most sensitive and permeable parts of your body. Directions: Add one drop of product to one teaspoon of plain vegetable oil. Massage into the thin skin of your inner arm. Cover with a bandage or piece of plastic wrap for 24 hours. Avoid use if irritation results.
